Snake catchers in Alice Springs say venomous snakes are getting fatter and becoming more active.
Reptile handler Justin Rutherford says he has answered more than 20 call-outs in the past two weeks.
He says the reptiles he has caught, particularly mulga [brown] snakes, have been fat and healthy specimens.
Mr Rutherford says the good rains over summer have helped the snakes get bigger, but people should not be worried.
