A British surgeon amputated the arm of a wounded teenager in Africa with help from instructions sent to him by text message.
Faced with carrying out an unfamiliar operation, David Nott called his surgical colleague Meirion Thomas.
Professor Thomas replied with two messages detailing the procedure along with the words 'Easy!' and 'Good luck'.
The operation was a success and the 16-year-old patient from the Democratic Republic of Congo made a good recovery.
