Nasa loses spider on International Space Station

advertisement

Astronauts were hunting for a missing party guest as they prepared to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the International Space Station.

One of two spiders sent to the orbiting laboratory aboard the space shuttle Endeavour last week was added to the lost property list after the crew checked its tank and found it empty.

Anxious to quash fears that the absent arachnid may be marauding around the space station, Nasa managers insisted that the second orb-weaver was not exactly lost, it just couldn't be found.

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

The only thing that would ever induce me to go to space is the idea of no spiders. Now... they are there... no thanx. crawling spiders are bad enough... now we ahve one that float into your face. YUCK!!!!

BTW - bug spray might not work on spiders but aresol hairspray does. I was told it's because it coats the spider & smothers them.

Plus, the roach will eat the spider as they are floating through the air. Can't get me in space now, i'd be scared to death they float in my face. bad enough they creep around the earth..........YIKES......

plus they say roach's can survive anything, so if it ever gets out, it could float around the universe, maybe even send messages via the spider...............HO..

If this person wasn't joking then the fact that this person is a manger at Nasa is scarier than any floating spider."

Okay, but what bout the webs are they cooler or what? Does throwing their webs provide any propulsion for them? with eight legs I bet spiders manuever awesone in 0-g, How many spiders have died in space, if they confirm KIA will this be a first? That spider is gonna die if they don't find it, ... mission failure.
