New Zealand police have found the body of a young Asian woman in a car outside the Auckland home of the little girl abandoned at a Melbourne railway station last week.

Detectives made the grisly find today in the boot of one of the family's two cars.

The body is likely to be that of the toddler's mother, who has been missing for the past nine days.
