Victorian doctors are hoping rare surgery will have successfully restored hearing to a deaf toddler.
Three-year-old Jorja Steele from New Zealand lost her hearing when she contracted meningitis two years ago.
In May she became the first child in the southern hemisphere to have a hearing device implanted in her brain.
Today doctors will turn on the device to see if it will bring back her hearing.
